A study visit for mayors and mayoresses to Norway organised by the Equal Opportunities Division in May 2014 and supported under the project Towards Equalising the Power Relations between Women and Men was carried out as part of the bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Slovenia under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism programme. The delegation of 17 participants comprising mayors/mayoresses, heads of municipal administrations, representative of the Association of Municipalities of Slovenia and representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs visited Norway, a country known to have deeply embraced the notion of gender equality believing that the latter pays off and provides a strong cornerstone for social progress. The municipalities participating in the study visit committed themselves to develop their own gender equality action plans.
